Iceland
Iceland is a land of stunning contrasts—from dramatic glaciers to geothermal hot springs, cascading waterfalls, and black sand beaches. During our six-day visit we were able to experience some of the best things that Iceland has to offer. I’d suggest this for a “once and only” visit or for a first visit. It includes a good mix of adventure, relaxation, scenic beauty, and captures many of the highlights of this Nordic wonderland.
Day 1: Arrival and Reykjavik Exploration
Afternoon:
Arrive at Keflavik International Airport and pick up your rental car.
Drive to your hotel and settle in. Spend your afternoon exploring the capital at your own pace. Don’t miss:

Harpa Concert Hall
Rainbow Street
Sculpture & Shore Walk along the harbor
Evening:
Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant to experience some of the unique culinary delights available on the menu.
Day 2: See Reykjavik from a Different Perspective
Morning:
Enjoy a cruise from the harbor to observe the native wildlife.
Afternoon:
Visit any of the sites that you missed yesterday around Reykjavik.
Take a rejuvenating soak at Sky Lagoon. With its infinity-edge pool and breathtaking ocean views, this geothermal spa is a must-visit.
Evening:
Sample the specialities of one of Reykjavik’s top chefs. Many incorporate, not only the best local ingredients, but also seasoning and flair from around the world, to provide you with a truly wonderful dining experience.
Day 3: Golden Circle and Natural Wonders
Morning:
Begin the Golden Circle Drive with a stop near Thingvellir National Park. There explore its unique tectonic rift and historical sites.
Afternoon:
Have lunch nearby before continuing to see the sites as you drive towards Vik.
Witness the thunderous Gulfoss Waterfall and the erupting Strokkur Geyser.
Stop at Kerid Crater, a volcanic lake with striking red and green hues.
Evening:
Drive to Vik and check into your accommodations for a three-night stay.
Day 4: Education and Waterfalls
Morning:
Visit the LAVA Centre, an interactive museum that explains Iceland’s volcanic history.
Afternoon:
Marvel at two iconic waterfalls:
Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the cascading water.
Skogafoss, with its powerful flow and panoramic views from the top of the staircase.
Evening:
Return to Vik for a cozy evening and enjoy one of the many fine restaurants in town.
Day 5: Ice Lagoons, Black Sand Beaches, and Glaciers
Morning:
Visit Diamond Beach, where ice sculptures rest on black sand.
If the weather is favorable, consider a hike to Svartifoss Waterfall within Skaftafell National Park, known for its basalt column backdrop.
Afternoon:
Visit the Dyrholaey Lighthouse for panoramic views of natural sea arches and cliffs.
Walk along Reynisfjara Beach, famous for its volcanic black sand and basalt sea stacks.
Evening:
End the day with a stop at Solheimajokull Glacier
Day 6: The Golden Circle Finale & Flight Home
Morning:
Start your final day with a hike to the Reykjadalur Hot Springs. This scenic trail rewards you with natural hot pools where you can relax.
Afternoon:
Drive back to Keflavik, return your rental car, and bid farewell to Iceland as you board your flight home.
